A Weekend of Festival Fun!

New Zealand Herald classed it as one of the most unmissable events of April 2023. Tauranga Council broadcast that it was a must-do in the Bay of Plenty. The Northern Districts Cricket Team tweeted about it. One of the world’s most successful sportsperson with a disability gave it a shout out all the way from Singapore.

And Healthvision made it happen!

Showcasing opportunity was at the heart of the Healthvision Festival of Disability Sport in Mount Maunganui at the weekend.

This high-energy two-day event brought together physically disabled athletes from across the nation, to compete in multiple sports codes. It also included fun have-a-go sessions across multiple codes for youth, whānau, and low-vision athletes.

Highlights of the Festival included an All-Stars wheelchair basketball game with the Bay of Plenty Stingrays versus some of the nation's best wheelchair basketball players. The Northern Districts Cricket Team also joined in the fun and played blind cricket.

The Festival was the qualifying event for the Wheelblacks, but undoubtedly one of the best (most amusing) tournaments of the Festival was the sponsors wheelchair rugby game – the Healthvision Heroes vs the Mighty McFalls! The Healthvision team did us proud!

The Healthvision Festival of Disability Sport 2023 Awards Dinner was held on Saturday and recognised outstanding achievements, performances and services in a Festival sporting code.

For a Festival first, three athletes from New Zealand who made their Paralympic debuts in Tokyo, were awarded with their official Paralympic pins and numbers.

Congratulations to New Zealand Paralympian, Cameron Leslie, who won the Healthvision Supreme Award. A dual Paralympian, Leslie competes in both Wheelchair rugby for the Wheel Blacks, and Para swimming. Leslie (who gave us a shoutout from Singapore) is also a nominee for this year’s prestigious Laureus World Sports Awards.

The Healthvision Festival of Disability Sport 2023 - bigger, busier and bolder than the previous years - was a huge success thanks to the energy, enthusiasm and fun brought by the Healthvision Team.

The vibrant colours with our brand refresh looked fantastic throughout the Trustpower Baypark Arena. Our new physio and sports massage tent was a hive of activity. Thanks to our rehab team, they kept people moving and grooving over the two days by providing clinical services for any injuries.

Bring on the Healthvision Festival of Disability Sport 2024!
