Rebecca Hodgson
Social Worker
Rebecca is a Registered Social Worker with over 23 years’ experience working alongside people from all walks of life, to make changes, or overcome barriers, to make things work better for them.
Her work experience has been mostly focused in health settings; however, she has experience in supporting service users, or somebody close to them, with a wide range of challenges affecting wellbeing or safety. She understands how far-reaching the impact of life experiences or changes in health can be, on personal, emotional, and practical level, such as self-esteem, mental health, independence, relationships, housing, work or income security and social connectedness.
Rebecca strives to create a genuine, non-judgemental, and client-centred focus in her practice. This means she looks to understand people in the context of their own lives, their values, and what they want to focus on. Rebecca supports service users to take stock of their current situation and can assist with gathering information or considering options, so they can make informed decisions about what they do next. She can take a range of approaches to assist people; from hands on step-by-step support or advocacy (such as accompanying a person to a meeting), or to providing advice and information about navigating other services and helping people to find their next step.
Rebecca graduated from Massey University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Social Work (Hons). Rebecca enjoys growing indoor plants, dancing, and nature walks.
